Description of Course
The Individual Leadership (DL-M1) master’s course is a continuation of the content learned in the Distributed Leadership Advanced (DL-A1) course. This course provides a deep dive into developing individual leadership skills and knowledge. Developing individual leadership skills begins the overall transformation into the distributed leadership journey.
Self-leadership is the process of influencing oneself. This influence can take place personally, at work, or socially. Self-leadership is the building block to developing self-sustaining teams in the workplace and in initiating teams capable of operating using a shared leadership model.
This course will support the development of individual capacities, at the personal level. The personal-level capacities addressed in this course include skills related to change management, leadership, self-development skills, and reflective skills.
Self-leadership will also address some of the much-needed work-related self-leadership capacities. These capacities include those identified for the personal-level skills including conflict management and moral/ethical skills.
Social skills are also included in the self-leadership model. The capacities covered in this course will include those listed in the personal-level and work-related skills, plus culture/diversity/identity, teamwork and team-building skills, and an introduction to networking skills.
Duration of Training
The Individual Leadership (DL-M1) master’s course requires 16 hours of training and can be taken as a two-day in-person training session, an online live virtual class, or as an asynchronous self-paced online training using The Flow System’s learning management system (LMS). This course can be taught publicly or privately to any organization.
Participants must complete the training before receiving a code allowing them to take the Individual Leadership Masters (DL-M1) assessment for accreditation. The fee for the assessment is included in the course fee for training attendees.
At the master’s level, participants will demonstrate an ability to apply the new knowledge and complete an online assessment. The master’s level courses’ application portion will be reviewed by peers and industry experts in their chosen field.
Participants who attend the training will have two attempts at the Individual Leadership (DL-M1) assessment. Participants who wish to forgo the training and jump straight to the assessment may do so but must first buy a code and will only have one attempt as opposed to two for people taking the training.
